The Emporio village, built in the lowlands, is 12 km away. from Fira and is the largest village of Santorini with 3,000 inhabitants.

For many years it was the commercial center of Santorini. There were taken part all the trade of products of Santorini. The name of the village means trade. The village of Emporio is densely-built, with narrow alleys, arched paths, dead ends and basements. In the middle of all this stands a nicely decorated, very tall bell tower, an agreement tricolor of blue, ocher and white.
It has many shops, regional health center and school. Feature point is the ruins of the old Venetian castle at the entrance of the village and some traces of other castle in the traditional city center.
